Know Your Schedule

You can’t manage time if you don’t know what you are supposed to be doing for the day. As the homeschool teacher, you should ensure that your homeschool student has a written copy of the week’s schedule with them at the begining of each week. This will allow them to understand what all they need to acomplish.

Organize Your Tasks

Simply knowing that you have to do ten tasks in the day is not enough. Teach the homeschool student to understand how much time each task on the list requires to be completed. Then show them how they can organize the tasks and finish them in an optimal manner. Some things may take longer than expected, so they should factor in additional time for this.

Focus on a Single Task at a Time

This can be a problem with children as they tend to want to do everything all at once. Have them slow down and focus on completing a single task before moving on to th enext one. They can alternate the things they enjoy doing with others that they struggle with. This will allow them to continue moving forward.

Don’t Get Distracted

There are so many distractions which exist and can de-rail your well planned out schedule even as an adult. Then how can you expect your homeschool children to not get distracted from the task at hand. The idea is not only to tell them to focus on the task, but also to effectively manage the distractions that will come their way. This is a life skill that will stand them in great stead all through their lives.

Balance Work and Play

The idea of time management is not to be restricted for study activities alone. In fact, the homeschool parent should ensure that the daily schedule has enough activities that balance work and play for the child. Physical activity, mental tasks, and play time all are equally important for a balanced life. Learning this lesson young will be very beneficial to them.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

This is an often neglected area for children. We assume that if they have a bedtime, they are asleep and should be well rested the next morning. This may not always be the case, especially today with th enumber of gadgets that can get them on social media and reduce sleep time.
