We help you learn and do science

Since 1996, I have been serving thousands of parents and kids, helping them learn and do science together. Supercharged Science has a philosophy that guides the work we do:

• Science Education - The main goal of Supercharged Science is to educate homeschool families on how to effectively and successfully learn and do science. To that end, we have provided free information , a Science Newsletter, Science Kits, and the Science Mastery Program. To put it another way, we have just about everything to help you with your science education which will fit into your budget.

• Science Education Results - When you use the ideas and information we provide, you can expect to:

  • Create a science lab fit for a rocket scientist from everyday things in your house. A quick trip to the hardware and grocery store, and you can build a lab good for hundreds (or thousands, as in my case) of hours of learning.

  • Increase your resourcefulness as you learn how to create radios from toilet paper tubes, rockets from car tire parts, buzzers from soup cans, and bouncing slime from laundry soap.

  • Consistently work with streams of ideas that flow to you. We get you started with the activity, but it's up to you on which direction to run with it. We lay the foundation on which you will build your castle of science knowledge.

  • Be amazed at how easy and fun it is to learn and do science. As you work through the projects, you experience the thrill of discovering the physics of things without having to just read about it.

  • Really get involved with the science ideas: rolling them around, testing them, beating them up and making the ideas your own, so that you thoroughly integrate the basic principles, which will serve you for the rest of your life.

  • Grow closer with your child as you both support each other in learning something new together. Most parents feel intimidated by science or at a loss as how to connect with their growing child. These projects can help you bridge the gap and challenge both of you to stretch your limits as you uncover the physical world around us.

  • Enjoy the feelings of success and accomplishment that grow from unexpected results (adults sometimes call these "failures"). You'll learn to hear and trust your own best answers as a regular part of your life as you speculate what will happen and be surprised by how things work out.

But you need to do more than just read about it. You have to do it!

When you begin to really work with the information provided on this site, you'll be doing science and learning as you go.

Since science rarely works right the first time (actually, it always works right as the laws of physics never stop working... but the result you get may not be as you intended), you will get very good at fixing and tinkering with your projects.

This is an essential step to becoming a scientist: resilience and determination. By keeping your eye on the goal and not giving up, you'll get clear on how things work by figuring out what you need to fix and how. You'll experience a true sense of satisfaction as you accomplish each project.
